Sexual Abuse and Assault Psychological Reports

Sexual Abuse and Assault Psychological Reports

Specialist psychological assessments and written reports for survivors of rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse, molestation, coercive sexual experiences, and related trauma.

Sexual trauma often leaves injuries that are profound, complex, and not always visible from the outside. A person may appear functional while living with flashbacks, panic, shame, dissociation, sleep disturbance, emotional numbing, hypervigilance, or a deeply altered sense of safety in the world. A careful psychological assessment can help give language, structure, and professional recognition to that impact.

Who this service is for

I provide specialist psychological assessment and written reports for adults who have experienced sexual trauma, including rape, sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, grooming, sexual coercion, molestation, and other sexually violating experiences.

This service may be appropriate for people who are:

  • seeking a psychological report for a CICA claim
  • requesting a trauma-focused assessment for legal, compensation, or documentation purposes
  • needing an independent clinical opinion about the psychological effects of sexual trauma
  • seeking diagnostic clarification around PTSD, complex PTSD, dissociation, anxiety, depression, or related symptoms after sexual violence or abuse

The psychological impact of sexual trauma

Sexual abuse and assault can affect far more than mood. They can alter the nervous system, the sense of self, the capacity for trust, the experience of the body, and the ability to move through ordinary life without fear. For some people, the aftermath looks like classic post-traumatic stress symptoms: intrusive memories, nightmares, avoidance, and a persistent sense of threat. For others, the picture is more complex and may include dissociation, emotional shutdown, chronic shame, disturbed relationships, self-blame, depression, panic, or difficulty functioning consistently in work, study, or intimate life.

Sexual trauma can also be particularly difficult to speak about. Survivors may minimise their suffering, question their own memory, feel contaminated or divided from themselves, or struggle to organise what happened into words. This is one reason a skilled and trauma-informed assessment can be so important.

What a psychological report can help with

A good psychological report does more than state that a person is distressed. It can help clarify the nature of the injury, the likely diagnosis, the severity and persistence of symptoms, and the effect of the trauma on daily functioning.

Depending on the referral question, a report may address:

  • whether the presentation is consistent with PTSD, complex PTSD, dissociation, depression, anxiety, or another trauma-related condition
  • the psychological consequences of rape, sexual assault, or abuse over time
  • the impact on day-to-day functioning, relationships, work, study, and emotional life
  • the presence of trauma-related symptoms such as flashbacks, avoidance, shame, panic, hypervigilance, sleep disturbance, or dissociative shutdown
  • clinical opinion regarding severity, prognosis, and treatment needs

CICA and compensation-related reports

In some cases, survivors of sexual violence or abuse may seek a psychological report in connection with a Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority claim or another compensation-related process. In that context, the quality and clarity of the assessment matter. A careful report can help articulate the reality of psychological injury where the deepest wounds may not be visible.

I provide trauma-focused psychological reports where clinically appropriate, including reports relating to PTSD, complex PTSD, dissociation, depression, anxiety, and other psychological consequences of sexual trauma. I do not guarantee the outcome of any claim, but I can provide an independent and clinically grounded opinion where appropriate.

What the assessment may involve

Assessments are thoughtful, trauma-informed, and paced with care. Depending on the purpose of the referral, the process may include:

  • a detailed clinical interview
  • careful exploration of trauma history and symptom development
  • assessment of PTSD, complex PTSD, dissociation, mood symptoms, anxiety, and functional impact
  • psychometric measures where clinically appropriate
  • a written report tailored to the agreed purpose

I understand that recounting sexual trauma can be extremely difficult. My approach is sensitive, clinically rigorous, and designed to avoid unnecessary intrusiveness while still obtaining the information needed to form a responsible professional opinion.

My approach

I specialise in the assessment and treatment of trauma, including sexual trauma, PTSD, complex PTSD, dissociation, and complex post-traumatic presentations. My work is both deeply human and clinically rigorous. I look not only at symptoms, but also at how trauma has affected the person’s inner world, relationships, nervous system, and capacity to live freely and safely.

This means that my reports are not generic templates. They are careful clinical formulations grounded in the reality of the individual person’s experience and the specific referral question.
