A commitment of weekly attendance is requested for therapy sessions.
Many clients find it helpful to book a block in advance by card for ease of budgeting and continuity.

Full professional fee
This is my published full professional fee structure. It applies to insurance-funded and third-party funded work, and also to some self-funding clients, including certain executive, international, and higher-complexity referrals.
Fee Group C
Reduced fee places (limited)
A limited number of reduced-fee places are available for students and others in genuine financial difficulty. These places may involve a waiting period.
- Block bookings: payable in advance, non-refundable, and must be used within six months.
- Most self-funded clients fall into Fee Group A.
Diagnostic Assessments & Reports
Comprehensive assessments and written reports.
Payments
Self-funded sessions may be paid by bank transfer or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express via PayPal). Insurance-funded sessions are billed in accordance with your policy and authorisation.

- Bank transfers: Comfort Shields Ltd — HSBC Business Account 21165461 / 40-18-00.
- Self-funded sessions: payable by the time of the session unless otherwise agreed in advance.
- Block bookings: payable in advance, non-refundable, and must be used within six months.
Insurance & Reimbursement
Pre-authorisation required. Please contact your insurer before booking to request pre-authorisation for psychological therapy or EMDR with Dr Comfort Shields.
- Ask for: authorisation code, number of sessions approved, expiry date, and any excess details.
- Email your membership number, date of birth, address (as on your insurance statement), and authorisation code to assistant@comfortshieldspractice.com before your first session.
- Insurers accepted: Allianz • Aviva • Bupa Global • Cigna International & UK • WPA.
- I do not accept Bupa UK, AXA, or Vitality.
- If your policy includes an excess, you may be invoiced directly for that amount. You are responsible for any shortfall or fees not covered. Some policies require a GP referral.
- If authorisation lapses or is declined, ongoing work may continue on a self-funded basis under the appropriate published fee structure.
