Fees and Services

• Individual therapy is weekly.
• Supervision is for psychotherapy and psychology professionals or trainees.
• Limited concession spaces: A small number of reduced-fee slots are available for those in financial difficulty; please enquire. These places are limited and often involve a waiting period of approximately 8–9 months for weekly therapy.

• EMDR is offered in repeating six-session blocks (90-minute sessions).
• Most clients benefit from one or two blocks (6–12 sessions in total).

ADHD Diagnostic Assessment — what’s included

• Step 1 (£590): 50-min screening + emailed questionnaires (self + someone who knows you well since childhood). Outcome: proceed to Step 2 if indicated.
• Step 2 (£650): 90-min DIVA-5 diagnostic interview + rating scales + 30-min feedback + written report. Typical turnaround: 7 days from assessment.
• Total if both stages completed: £1,240.

PTSD Diagnostic Assessment

• 2-hr clinical assessment + CAPS-5 + PCL-5 + 30-min feedback + comprehensive report.

CICA Assessment & Psychological Report

• One 2-hr clinical interview + psychometrics + medico-legal-ready report. Typical turnaround ~1 week from session.

Medico-Legal Psychological Assessment & Report

• Comprehensive instruction-led assessment; typical report 8+ pages. In person or online (on instruction).

Payments may be made by bank transfer or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express via PayPal).

• Sliding scale: self-funded clients may choose a fee within £130–£230 for weekly therapy, and £200–£300 for 90-minute consultations, according to their circumstances. Insurance-funded sessions are billed at the insurer’s approved rate.

Pre-authorisation required. Contact your insurer before booking to request pre-authorisation for psychological therapy or EMDR with Dr Comfort Shields.

• Ask for: authorisation code, number of sessions approved, expiry date, and any excess details.
• Email your membership number, date of birth, address (as on your insurance statement), and authorisation code to assistant@comfortshieldspractice.com before your first session.
• Insurers accepted: Allianz • Aviva • Bupa International (not Bupa UK) • Cigna International & UK • WPA.
• I do not accept Bupa UK, AXA, or Vitality.
• If your policy includes an excess, you may be invoiced directly for that amount. You are responsible for any shortfall or fees not covered. Some policies require a GP referral.
• If authorisation lapses or is declined, you can continue self-funded at the standard fee.
